fter studying Trumpet (CNR of Reims, CNSM of Paris), Harmonie and counterpoint (CRR of Reims), William Dongois teaches this instrument while maintaining an intense musical activity. He begins his initiation to the cornet with Jean-Pierre Canihac, then with Bruce Dickey at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. He has played and recorded for a variety of musical formations. He directs the ensemble Le Concert Brisé (www.concert-brise.eu).

Diapason awarded "five diapasons" to the recording La barca d’amore (1998, Carpe Diem, reed. Accent , 2009) saluting an « outstanding interpreter » and a « precious guide on the path to a historically authentic style ». Craig Zechner ( « Early Music America », Summer 2011) writes about the live recording of the Pandolfi-Mealli sonatas (Carpe Diem 2010) : «Dongois is superb and plays with a fluid, focused straight tone that's irresistible, a sound that can be brainily bright but also as mellow as Miles. The jazz analogy is no forced; this is a music that lives on its improvisatory flair and Le Concert Brisé deliver".

Two of the Concert Brisé's last CDs dedicated to Bertali (ACC 24260) and Scheidemann (ACC 24302) have received a golden diapason (february 2014 and june 2016).

He collaborates with the instrument manufacturer Henri Gohin. William Dongois teaches improvisation during master-classes in higher education musical establishments throughout Europe. He teaches the cornet and ornamentation at the Haute École de Musique of Geneva. [transl. W. D.]
